The end of things
The beautiful maze that is Venice
To me, Venice really is like a beautiful maze. Off the tourist-streets you can find yourself wandering through narrow alleys and streets for hours, but discover on the map that you only went around withing 2 kilometres or so… Doesn’t matter, it gets you some great pictures!

Travelling for work: Done
Travelling private: Done
Wintery-darn-it-is-dark-so-early-and-I-think-I-get-a-cold-depression: Done!
So here we are again after some down-time. Still uber-busy with all kinds of stuff here and there, but at least I feel a little bit organised again, and slowly start to get my photographers mind back again. Planning to do some evenening photoshoots in Berlin soon, so give me a shout if you want to come along!
But first a little story:
Hot Air Balloons – Pro-bluffing my way into a restricted area, sometime size does matter:
Sometimes it helps to have a bit of a bigger DSLR camera. Strap a wide-angle lens on it and it looks even bigger. That’s what I did when I went to this hot air balloon festival back in autumn. The field of which the balloons took off was restricted to the pilots and some press-photographers. But when I saw that the security wasn’t actually checking for press-cards I took my chance and swung my camera onto my shoulder, walked up to the security man and said “can I pass onto the field? I need some better shots for my work (why should he know my “work” has nothing to do with press?)”, The guy had a look at my camera and opened the gate for me, and a few seconds later I found myself between a dozen hot air balloons that were being prepared for take off.
Lesson learnt, sometimes size does matter!
Some more autumnphotography
Here’s something I found out: Having a new-born baby, some busy times in the office and having to travel for work seems to mess up my photography routine! However, I have had some time to take some autumn-shots with my D40 and Lensbaby, the combination I now always have in my day-to-day bag.
See you soon!

What’s the Story Morning Glory?
My parents live in a small provincial town in the South of the Netherlands, near the German and Belgian border. Their village is surrounded by forrests and fields, and it was only when visiting them for a few days that I realised how pretty the surrounding countryside is, and how beautiful it is to photograph it at sunrise.
When I was still living there, I never really noticed it. But I’m happy that I did now, so I can have some little photo-adventures whenever I visit them
This picture was taken a few days ago, during an early morning sunrise. I didn’t take a warm enough jacket. Nore did I take gloves. Or a hat… And it was cold! Anyway, the result of that morning’s shoot is worth the shivering

Crossing the Chinese bridge
Sometimes it is great to be able to have a backup of photos to edit and perhaps post.
At the moment, I am in the final leg of a 1.5 month stay abroad with my fiancee and our 11 week old baby. Needless to say, I don’t always have the energy to go out shooting, and also the weather hasn’t been working along very well over the last few weeks. In times like this, when I feel a bit un-inspired, it is so valuable to be able to delve into my Lightroom Catalog and reconsider pictures that I discarded, or processed in a wrong way. As is this picture, that I actually took in Spring of this year.
